Tigist Helen Schmidt is an Ethiopian German multidisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles. Her photography, film, painting, textile, sound, sculptures, texts, installation and performance pieces are marked by her ability to translate layered complexities into lyrical, poetic form. Her work has appeared at The Museum of Modern Art, Toronto International Film Festival, SXSW, Tribeca Film Festival, HBO, The Kitchen, Gladstone Gallery New York, New Image Festival Paris to name a few. She has held speaking engagements at the Queens Museum, The New School and the United Nations in New York and Nairobi. Tigist is a Tribeca Film Institute Lab and Independent Film Project fellow, an alumna of the Identity School of Acting Los Angeles and holds a Master's degree from Goldsmiths University of London.
